BCI Setup and cage sizes
So, a friend of mine has a BCI that he would like to give up to me. I'm unsure of his age or size since I haven't seen him recently. I know for a fact he is outgrowing his current cage and is going to need more room.
What I would like to know is what cage dimensions do you like for your adult BCIs?
I was thinking about getting a T8 from AP but I am wondering how important height is to these guys? Should I go with something taller? Perhaps a T10?
Here is a picture of Greg from about a year ago:

Pretty little guy. So its a male? They enclosure we are going to be making for ours will have some height. Thay way he has it if he wants it. As of now, he doesn't climb much. He prefers to curl up behind his thermometer.

Yes he is a male I know they sometimes will climb a little, do you think getting the basking shelf would be worth it?

I don't know about the AP enclosures. We were planning on putting in a little shelf though, on the warm side. We haven't totally figured out the final design yet, but I have a rough idea, and lots of detail ideas undecided yet.

its not required for them to have hight as older ones typically dont climb much but it wouldnt be bad for him ethier

Re: BCI Setup and cage sizes
I recommend more height. I had my 3-year-old female in a T10 (15" high) for a while and it simply wasn't tall enough. Long story short she ended up nose rubbing so much she developed an abscess on her nose. I definitely think it was the height because as soon as I moved her into a temporary "hospital tub" which was actually much smaller horizontally but about 3ft tall, she stopped rubbing. With treatment the abscess has now healed completely; I'm still figuring out what I'm going to do for an enclosure for her (building vs buying), but when I put her back in a proper enclosure, it's going to be at least 2ft tall with a basking shelf and climbing areas. It's true that babies climb more than adults, but given the opportunity (meaning secure and sturdy climbing structures thick enough to support their larger size) adults will climb.
Of course every boa is very different and I know many live happy lives in shorter enclosures, but imo if you're going to put down money for a cage for him go for a T12 with a shelf. But that's just my .02. In any case, good luck! Boas are absolutely the best, and Greg is a beautiful boy!
