Did my python just try and Bite me?

Bumble bee tuna is his name hehe And well he yawned or fixed his jaw and still being a baby hes got extra skin so he kinda shudders trying to crawl on my skin, So he did the yawn this his mouth was slightly cocked open, and I dont know if he fell down or struck at me cause after that his mouth was fully closed. I put him back in his tank just encase hes being a grumpy boy

Well, if he is being grumpy and you put him back then you let him win. If I am doing something simple like changing my BPs water and they hiss at me I purposely take them out of their tub and hold them for a little bit so that they didn't win. Even if I had no intention of taking them out.

Oh he didn't hiss or show that S pose of striking so I don't know honestly I don't like the Idea of getting bit for the fact I have good reflexes and I don't want him to latch on and me pull back if gets me and Break one of his teeth

Just mentally prepare yourself for the fact he could bite, and might at one point in his life. If you dread it, even if it's because of your reflexes, you're going to be more 'jumpy' about it. Breathe. Relax. Tell yourself: "It's okay to get bit" and when it happens, you'll be calm and more able to control your 'reflexes'. You won't lash backwards if he strikes.

I have really fast reflexes too. Like a ninja. I startled my corn snake the other day and she S-posed at me too. Silly girl. My hand was beside her as she did this. I recognized right away what was happening, and managed to not flinch away. I just slowly drew my hand back, then took her out after a moment or two.

It's just a matter of admitting it'll happen, realizing it'll probably happen when you least expect it, and you should be just fine.

I disagree with RetiredJedi and dont think bps are that smart that theyre able to think, hey if i bite or hiss he'll put me back. I win! Same way that the cage feeding aggression theory is a myth. That kinda response is the same so saying theyre not smart enough to do the one, but not the other, doesnt make sense. (Because we all know feeding in the cage causing aggression is a myth).

My snakes yawn all the time when i have them out. Its not a sign of aggression at all. Nothing to be worried about!

Yea being my first reptile I kinda nervous about him, He was enjoying the whole time being out he would move to the spots on my body like around my neck and palms and chill their cause I am really hot around those areas, I am wondering if hes hungry again already it is next week but he doesn't get fed till like friday and last week we fed him a Fuzzy, but the week before that the store scales and tails gave us an Adult mouse like not a HUGE one, but a semi-adult you could say.... So I wonder if that One fuzzy didn't fill him up, hes been out and about ALLOT! looking at the top of his cage and climbing up and he does that when it comes to feeding time too.

With this being my first snake I wanna make sure I feeding him According to what he should be fed, hes still tine not like new hatching

Thank you Mike, I know snakes are smart, but I didn't think they would have the thinking of thought process like that. Like dogs and other Species of animals who are more evolved than snakes don't have the thought process like humans, So I wouldn't think about the (I win part) but he/she may mean like being aggressive they leave me alone, just like the wild snakes do for warnings

It's not necessarily that they think that specifically, but the conditioning does occur similar to a dog.

I was talking about bps only, just to be clear. I think that other species can be conditioned with things to an extent but not bps. I love my balls, but theres not much going on in there lol. The boas ive held seem much more curious though. And the one retic ive interacted with seemed almost scary intelligent haha. You looked into its eyes and its like it was looking right back at you thinking something.

Zombietox, I can tell you with absolute certainty: One day, you WILL get bit. Is it startling and unpleasant? Yes. Will you bleed? Most likely. Is it painful and unbearable? Absolutely not. Once you get bit, I guarantee you'll go, "... Was that IT??" The other day my BP latched onto my finger in her attempt to strike her dinner (I think. Maybe she liked my hand more than the rat, lol) and held on for a good few seconds. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst), the pain was MAYBE a 2. More like a 1/1.5. About as painful as a papercut.

If you wanna own snakes, don't be afraid to be bitten! It happens to all of us. (Now I AM a little afraid to be bitten by my boa, but that's because she's 6-7 feet long and 7-ish pounds, haha! I know it wouldn't just be a "papercut" bite from her!)

My baby BP did unthinkable damage a couple weeks ago not by biting me, but by biting my husband the first time he petted her. I wouldn't have cared if it was me, but I don't think he'll ever forgive her, LOL. And you'd need a magnifying glass to see the itty-bitty puncture that her itty-bitty tooth left in him. I've definitely seen worse horsefly bites! Can't blame him for being upset, though, he didn't have much interest in her in the first place.
