Update on stubborn male not eating.

So my male ball python Pyrite had whistled on Wednesday so I made him an appointment for that afternoon. The vet didn't hear any whistles or clicks and said that his body condition was great and that he appeared healthy and alert, but wanted to do some bloodwork just to see if anything else was wrong that would cause his inappetence. The couldn't get blood out of his tail vein, so they ended up anesthetizing him and drawing it from his heart. I got his bloodwork back today, and everything seemed normal, except that his monocyte levels were extremely high. They should be around 15 and Pyrite's levels were at 52. The vet said that high monocyte levels are usually caused by something chronic, possibly an abcess or other hidden infection, but it could also possibly be inclusion body disease (IBD). I'm getting some antibiotics tonight and he is being quarantined. I'm really worried because there were two cases of confirmed IBD last year in my area and that he could have potentially caught it.

My vet advised me not to let any snakes leave or come into my collection, which I 100% agree with. I will also not be going to my local reptile meeting or picking up any feeders at the BP breeder I usually get them at. I'm not going to potentially hurt someone's collection.

All in all, I'm glad I took him to the vet because now I know for sure that something is wrong with him and that I can work on fixing him up.

And to be honest, Pyrite only whistled once (it might have even been me, stupid allergies) but I wanted to take him in anyway. I'm glad I did.

Is there anything else that I can do for him? He's in his own separate room. I'm going to change him back to paper towel today and make sure his tub stays clean, but is there anything else I can do for him?
