Learning from experienced owners/breeders?

As an inexperienced bp owner, I was wondering what you thought of taking a newbie under your wing if someone asked. I've received great advice over the phone and took my snakes to the local herp society to get checked out and received wonderful help. But due to health considerations, that person doesn't collect anymore. I'm thinking more of someone who collects and breeds and would let me learn hands on. Teach me how to sex bps, treat infections, and let me observe how it works through breeding season. Ill clean tubs, whatever... I just want to learn beyond what I can read. Does that sound reasonable or would I be asking someone to teach another person who may breed some day and compete for sales? The way I see it I may decide to never breed but I'll learn to be a better snake owner

Now if I just moved to the other end of the country lol. Its cool that you'd be willing though. There are probably people near you who just don't think of asking. On a completely unrelated note, your normal's named Zed? Any reference to Wizard's First Rule? (yeah, total geek here lol).

Volunteer work is probably appreciated at a large breeders facility.

I have local breeder to me who ive bought snakes from and been to his house to checkout his setup. He has helped me with any question ive had, let me handle snakes from his collection, check out pipping hatchlings, and even showed me some stuff with a new gene hes working with. He's already told that when im ready to build my first incubator i gotta come over so he can help me wire everything and set it up. Im not paying him for any of this, hes just an awesome guy. His philosophy is if his customers do well, he does well. So he does everything he can to make sure his buyers like me do well!

No, but as you can see by some of my other snakes names there is some pretty serious geek factor going on lol

I'm way up in NE WI, almost MI UP, and I'm struggling to find others around here. Then again, I've just started looking so we'll see. I'm going to W.I.R.E. in September so maybe I'll meet others there.

How cool would that be? Unfortunately we're seperated by Lake MI lol. I'd have to go up the UP and all the way down the state almost to Detroit. I'm looking for a little more local than that lol.

Ive talked with them at shows and theyre quite normal lol. Alot of that is to build up hype and keep people tuned into them.
