Brown under chin/neck and random lifting scales.
Hey everyone I need some help.
My Normal Freyja has a weird brown/orange spot under its neck on one side and I think another is forming on the other. It looks similar to what happened to my friends snake on this thread :
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...lp-Mouth-sores
But on her the scales are not missing just the tips of them are brown. I have a pic but its kinda crappy but its the best I could do.

She has been rubbing on her tub trying to get out a lot. Im thinking that could be the cause. But I would like some input.
I tried to get some betadine but no where around here has it on shelf. So I ordered a bottle and it will be in thursday.
Anyways the other thing is that she has scales lifting in random spots. It will be like one or 2 or 3 scales in random spots that are lifted. No discoloration or anything. They are just standing up or lifted.
And for those of you that follow my posts yes this is the girl that still not eating. Its been over 23 days since she has eaten and she had dropped to 50g maybe even lower now. She is drinking fine and urinating once or twice a week. I tried giving her a live rat but I was given the wrong size. I asked for a fuzzy and I got a pup that was over 22grams and thats way to big for her. I have tried every size of frozen thawed and every trick to try to get her to eat a frozen. I have not been able to get another live because BOTH of my suppliers went dry. But one of them got a shipment in and I am getting a live rat pinky tomorrow to give to her.
For those of you who want to know. All temps are perfect and right on and same with humidity. Tubs are in a rack system with a thermostat.
Looking forward to the help everyone.
Thanks again,
reptiliachnids.

Re: Brown under chin/neck and random lifting scales.
Hi,
We need closer and clearer pics than that to even guess to be honest.
The raised scales can happen when they are going into shed or even when they coil tightly.

I am not a professional. But from my experience that to me looks like the start of mites in your snake. Take it to the vet right away as mites can cause vent problems and can make holes in the bottom of you snakes head. Hope this helped!!

Hey Joey,
It could be an assortment of things. Make sure her enclosure is clean and the base is dry, and check on her after she sheds.
I had this with one of my girls. I thought it was scale rot but it came off with the shed. Sometimes it just happens lol.
Here's what I had.

Came off with the shed.
If the problem persists after that then vet visit lol.

Yah I thought about the tub being dirty because this happened shortly after I went away for 4 days and came back an checked on her and she was in her hide laying on top of soiled paper towels.
I wish she would shed but she still has not eaten so I dont know if she will shed

Give her time. Even if it is scale rot its very very mild. I'd be more focused on getting food into her right now. Personally, it looks fine to me. If she doesn't eat next time you feed her maybe you should bring her to the vet and get both addressed. I think it will come off next shed.
Goodluck bro,
lemme know how it turns out!

Okie dokie so...
After 3 weeks of looking I could not locate any smaller tubs for my rack. She has been in a 41 qt. So I got this foamy cardboard stuff and hot glued a section of the tub off. Now she has a smaller more secure area.
I got her a Live rat pinky today as well and its in there with her. She has shown no interest in it at all.
And I got the betadine from the pharmacy too.
And to the guy who said mites.
No its not mites. I have never ever heard of mites eating holes in a snakes lower jaw.
Either way she has not shown any signs of mites.
