    Poor Munch

    *Sigh*

I tried not to jinx it.

But apparently going around saying "Only thing we need now is a respiratory infection and then we'll have nearly have the whole shabang!" Was not very clever of me.

Poor baby, off to the vets. We'll pay the vet whatever it takes, we put so much work into making him strong again and he was doing so so well, putting on weight and everything and it's breaking my heart to think of anything happening to him :'( I can't imagine my life without Munchie.

I'm actually freaking out about this.

Okay, so after a stressful trip to the vets (but much needed trip) he DOES have an RI, but the vet was very good with him. She gave him two injections and we're giving him oral antibiotics for the next two weeks. Hopefully it won't stress him out too much...

I feel SO bad. He was so well behaved, he took it like a trooper. She was pulling him around and me being me I'm not used to seeing him handled as forcefully as that (I'm just good for a climbing frame for him lol) and when she gave him the injections he tensed like mad and wriggled and I had to hold him still... When she was holding him he kept trying to get away and headed straight for me every time.

He is currently curled up in his viv, looking like he may feel very sorry for himself. They said we caught it really soon, I was imagining the discolouration in his mouth and that his lungs seemed a bit raspy but other than that he is a perfectly healthy snake and we're doing everything just right.

Phew. Fingers crossed these antibiotics work then! Thanks for the messages guys

Thanks I was a bit worried we hadn't caught it early enough but I think I freaked out a bit prematurely. I'm a bit worried about administering the antibiotics myself, but I will do whatever it takes. Our friend is popping over to give me a hand so I get my confidence up a bit.

I'm going to get him better no matter what, I point blank refuse to let anything happen to him. He is farrrrr too important to me.

You're administering oral antibiotics? I thought that injections were recommended?

Yep. He could either go back for injections every two days, or you can administer oral medication at home, so we chose to do it at home. He had two injections today.

Just as an FYI, oral is not as effective as injections with reptiles.
