Good starting boa
So i have a ball python love the guy, but been seeing more and more on boa's and kind of want to get one. I like the BRB but just wanted some tips on a good one. Dont want to breed, going to do that with the balls lol. Just want a cool snake to chill with and just because having a boa seems pretty cool lol.

Desired size (or required limits on size) might be your determining factor as to which boa would be best. I can tell you that though BRBs don't get huge like the BCIs/BCCs, their care is a lot more intricate and specific than a BCI/BCC. A lot of people like to go with the smaller boas (like Sand boas or Rosy boas) as a good starter to the boa. It really is going to depend on you and what you want/can handle. If you are looking for a much bigger snake than your Balls, then maybe a BCI/BCC breed would be a good starting spot. If you think you can deal with the high humidity requirements of the rainbows...then maybe that might be the way to go. I have both types and can honestly say that they're all wonderful. Whatever you decide to go with, best of luck!

I agree with all of this ^^^ Figure out if size is an issue first. We have a male BCI. We wanted a boa, but not a huge one due to space requirements. So we got a male, as they tend to "typically" be smaller. All I can say is he is awesome! You will fall in love with them.

Dumeril's boa!!!!!
I just got mine and I'm fascinated by her. Males stay around 5-6 feet, females more along the lines from 6-7.5ish.

Re: Good starting boa
I would like the 6ft to 7ft range, im a 6ft 5inch tall guy so i love my ball but when i hold him he looks so tiny, want something that would fit my body size. I just dont want something that hits like 10ft and you need 2 people to handle it lol. So my only real thing im agasint is the ones that need more then one person to handle.

Sounds like me. I wanted something bigger than my ball, but nothing huge. My vote is for Dumeril's boa. You'll never hear anything bad about them
