    Sand boa behavior

Hey all im not new to kenyan sand boas but i never had one act like this so i dont know how to read him. Its a year old male i just got i dont his history. Most boas ive owned slowly slither away from your hand when your trying to scoop em up but this guy goes nuts trying to get away bolting for dear life and you almost cant grab him hes so fast and when i do manage to grab him he does this thing where he he slink s back in an S strike position and then bolt up to my hand... Is he going to bite at this point or am i reading this wrong? Any help on understanding what this behavior means would be great. Also anyway to calm him down? Once hea in my hands he relaxes but taking him out of the tank is always a stressful pain in the butt dor both of us.

I'm not sure here. I have a female that was born in January that is a little butt. When I go to pick her up she flips around and tries to slap me with her tail or head. She doesn't S up or strike at me though. She is clam once I get her up. The only time mine get snappy is when its feeding time. I'm really not sure whats up with yours. You said you've had others so I'm guessing you have it in the same kind of setup. How long have you had him?

    Re: Sand boa behavior

Yea same setup as usual. Ive only had him for a few days. Ive had a few snakes from balls to redtail boas and corns but i guess ive always had the lucky that they were super tame. But im never sure with this guy. So what does S and swing back at my hand mean? He doesnt have his mouth open when he does it. Ill be holding him by the end as im lifting him up out the tank and the he Ses and bolt up towards my hand. Its the weirdest thing. Oh and while i was holding him yesterday he was like rubbing on me. What does that mean?

I had another little girl that had a really rough shed. It was the first time I had a sand boa so was still getting used to their care after having BPs and a Dum. She went into blue like normal and cleared up a couple of days later but never worked the skin off. It stuck something terrible. One solid piece that looked like her normal skin dust duller. When I would pick her up she would rub all over me. Is it possible he has a stuck piece on his head?

Most of my KSBs (I don't have tons but I have four) are pretty shy. I gave them the standard week of isolation that I would give a BP before handling and dealing with. Really, I'm stumped. If it isn't shed or stress then maybe you managed to snag the one odd grump that pops up every once in a while. I'm hoping that someone else with a broder ecxperiance with them will add their
