I would certainly flush the eggs with saline. My one and only experience with losing a clutch was because I cut (too early mind you) and bacteria built up in the egg. That was in my early dumb days and I didn't know what I was doing concerning cutting. Flushing out the bacteria, and keeping the eggs well hydrated will keep those babies alive.
