That's a tough one to answer. I never was one into the snake aspect of the reptile hobby to begin with. Most of my effort and study went into monitors. Several months ago I ended up using literally all of my money to get myself off the ground and get a place to live- and in the process lost all but a single one of my monitors. Fast forward to a couple months ago, I had someone offer me a 12' albino burm for $200, seeing as though I had many friends with males, I decided to put my foot into snake keeping again with this "investment". Although I ended up with both a 12' burm and a young anaconda. I can't say that either of them really did it for me- or still does.

I told myself many years ago the only snakes I ever wanted as "pets" were either king cobras (lol) or a retic. I found one locally for $100 for a 14' tiger. I keep him in my living room, with locks on the cage. We have a bunny and 2 cats and never worry about it. When kids come into mix I'll be adding double pad locks and moving him into a locked bedroom (so they can't accidentally let him out with breaking the cage). Kids aren't a good excuse not to have a big snake- if you take care of it properly and teach the kids early to respect the snake. But this tic def has me hooked
