    Calico white sides question

I wonder if the amount of white on the sides of Calicos are genetic (i.e. high white calicos tend to produce more high white offspring, low white tend to produce more low white offspring etc.)?

Also, when calicos are mixed with pastel, there is suddenly a lot of white. Does the amount of white in the calico parent affect the amount of white when mixed with pastel?

I know there are always exceptions I want to know if it affects it or has a tendency.

I have a fairly low white calico, but have been told that they are a lot like pieds. They can throw high or low amounts of white regardless of the parent Calico. I have yet to breed mine for results ( clutch due to hatch on 7/12 ) yet so I can't tell you from personal experience.

This is my third year producing calicos and combos, the amount of white in the offspring has been totally random so far.

    Re: Calico white sides question

    Thanks for the replies

How about in regards to combos that have both spider or pastels and calico in it? The pastel seems to bring about a lot of white, almost up to the back. I haven't seen any pics of "low white" caliders or calibees etc.

Are there "low white" caliders, calibees etc.?
