mites becoming really annoying.
when I got my ball about 3-4 days after i found out he had mites from something i may have put into the cage.
about a week after I thought the mites had gone because I had been treating them and i carried on treated them afterwards.
then about 2 days ago I took my ball out to find he had mites again its becoming frustrating and I feel sorry for him, I am literally thoroughly cleaning the cage like with boiling hot water on everything then hoovering it then spraying mite off over everything, and over the snake as the instructions say, and i still see one or two crawling over him and its stressing me out I am going on holiday in about 7 days and i don't want to leave him with him having mites etc... this may sound stupid but is their nothing you can put in the cage that would draw the mites towards a certain item or something that would keep the mites away? i know that sounds stupid but...
thanks I am also from the UK so i cant buy many products.
Thanks a lot

Are those snake mites or wood mites?
What have you used to treat for mites?
Either way you can use those http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/c...pray-100g.html ,http://www.reptilica.co.uk/Ardap-750...in-spray.phtml

All I can tell you is that the first one is the one that UK keepers seem to recommend, I have no first hand experience with it since I live in the US

Are you keeping him on paper towels right now or are you using something else for a substrate? Keep on paper towels and I would clean everything twice daily and also soak in water twice daily to get the mites off in addition to any sprays that you are using.

To really be proactive in eradicating mites, you need to treat for at least 45 days, if not 60. Some keepers treat for 90 days to ensure all mites are gone. A snake mite's life cycle is approximately 30 days, so if you just treat for a couple of days and stop, you aren't killing any new mites that are hatching out in the mean time & reinfesting your snakes. Mites can travel very quickly - up to 50 feet in an hour, so this is the "space" you need to think in terms of when treating them. Using a spray for treating the cage & surroundings works well. You should also vacuum the room thoroughly to get any wanderers. Wash hides & water bowls in a solution of hot water (110 degrees+) & bleach, to a 10% dilution. Mites are not a "treat once or twice & you're done" sort of thing - you really, really have to stay on top of them if you're going to get rid of them all.
Good luck!

Sounds like what ever you used last time killed the mites, but not the eggs.
