Injured feeder mouse
I have a feeder mouse that was being picked on by the others and has a raw patch on his butt due to the others biting him. I have separated him to his own cage and was wondering if it would be okay to put neosporin on his rump to help him heal. My concern was if the neosporin would harm my snake later this week when this mouse gets fed off.
Any help.
Thanks

Seems like doing cosmetic surgery for a guy on death row. LOL.

Re: Injured feeder mouse
his little butt is pretty raw - I just wanted to prevent him from getting seriously ill from infection setting in. I hated to just put him down since he is in my feeder colony.
Yes, he will eventually get fed off but I feel it is my responsibility to give him the best possible care while he is with me.
Does anyone know if putting neosporin on the mouse would be dangerous for my snake come feeding day.
Thanks

I wouldn't do it. Just watch him closely. If there are signs of infection then cull him, and then I wouldn't feed him to a snake.

I had a feeder mouse I "saved" from the other males. They were biting his tail, and it looked like it was gonna fall off. I just separated him and left him alone.
If you put Neosporin on him, he'll just lick it off anyways.

I would have fed him off already as well. If he's not a breeder and just food why not feed him off ASAP? Is he not the right feeding size? That's the only reason I would potentially hold a feeder back. As for your question though. Use regular neo and the snake won't have an issue. It wont honestly help much though. If he's separated he'll keep it clean.
