House Herping
One of my dogs found this little baby gray rat in the house tonight. Guess these heavy rains are causing animals to seek higher ground. Since this weather doesn't look like it'll ease up for at least a day or two I set him up in some temporary housing until I can release. I went ahead and offered him a newborn ASF to give him a little boost since he likely hasn't eaten since hatching. He gobbled it right up as you can see by his lump in the second picture. Anyway, figured I'd share my first house herping experience of the season.

Nice, what a cute lil worm.

Just something endearing about a snake that can barely wrap around a few of your fingers.

Yea very true haha!
Im sure he was very happy that you fed him too. He looked so tiny. I wonder what they could even eat in the wild at that age?

Awww, he's adorable! Lucky for him that you found him and gave him a temporary safe shelter. You certainly gave him a fighting chance with the meal, major kudos!

Small tree frogs and anoles make up the majority of their diet as youngsters.
