Sumatran Short Tail + my snake in a vid!

Wanted to share a pic from today of my Sumatran short tail (black blood) python, Vega. It's so hard to get pics of her due to her sheen, but she freshly shed today so thought I'd show off a pic. She's grown a bit since getting her and she's just about 800 grams now. She's been having a bit of a temper though: she'll be getting worked with more frequently to get her out of her drama queen attitude

And hey, does the snake in this vid look familiar? Well it does to me! While browsing I came across this....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf_JUX-EmTU

And what do ya know? It's my new little T+ blood female I got from the Las Vegas Expo in May! Too funny. And seeing as she became available on May 10th, she was only without a home for a good nine days before I picked her up. Mivacca is doing great too, and has already grown over 100 grams since getting her! She's over 300 now. I'll need to get new pics after she sheds since she's super in blue right now.

From when I got her May 19th:

Vega is *gorgeous*, and your T+ is just adorable, too! Keep working with Vega while she's in the grumpy teenage hissypants stage...don't let her learn that her shenanigans mean she'll be put away early, and try to end every handling session on a positive note. Good luck with your lovely gal!

P.S. Try taking pics outdoors on an overcast day. After a lot of trial & error that seems to be what works best for truly capturing the appearance of our bloods & shorties. HTH!

Wonderful advice (bolded)- she's definitely going to be going through some charm school! I'm very happy with her though, I keep telling myself to get her outside for pics so I'll need to do that one day when it's not too hot and sunny. I'm sure I'll be posting them when I do

PS: I love your Reds Kara, if I were to get another blood my choices would definitely be one of those or one of Tim Mead's (Vega's breeder) Borneos. Both you guys produce some of the nicest bloods around in my eyes.

Snakes like that are definitely worth the effort. Working with them as docile adults is even more rewarding when you've successfully moved through the bratty stages.

Thanks so much for the kind words! :o

Gorgeous snakes! I'm especially partial to that black blood of yours. Good luck calming her down.

Looking Great there Angelica, additional note on temperment is that all 3 species of the "fatty's" will become grumpy when the temp goes past the mid 80's, If maintaining a varied species room the fatty's will benefit if kept near the cooler floor level..Thank you and feel free to hollar if we can be of any assistance..Tim..As far as pics go we have to take 100 to get one or two we like..

Right now I have them both without a hotspot and at 79-80 ambient temps. When I had a mild 85 hotspot Vega took to her water bowl so I turned that off and I believe she and the little one are both a lot more comfortable. Do you think I should keep them both a tad cooler? My other bedroom I could put them in stays at about a 75-78 ambient. Thanks for the help.

No, that is about where they like to be, our room this time of year is 79.? in the am and rises to 83 to near 84 before days end.. One more note,
Have no fear or hesitation, IMO they will pick up on such just like much/all of the animal kingdom..With time you'll find it doesn't even do the typical python exhale when picked up and is in the groove you put it in..
