Hi and welcome to BP.net.The heat mat looks good but make sure you regulate it with a thermostat. That would work for the warm side now what do you plan to use o heat the rest of the tank or what would ambient temperatures be in the area outside of the tank? As for the wood stay away from Ekby. Pine and ball pythons don't mix. You can read here where someone asks about using pine substrate.
