When to remove press n seal

my clutch is on day 43 and a few eggs are starting to dimple a little but the humidity is still holding strong. For those of you that use press n seal under your lids, at what point do you remove it?

I dont except to burp the tubs once a week

Twice a day when they are hatching

I never take it off.

When the babies pip, I open it a crack in the corner to let a bit of air in.

I never open it at all the entire 55-60 days.

I take it off as soon as the first one pips. and place the lid on with a few small air holes in it. about 10 days to 2 weeks before they pip, I remove the lid that helped hold the press n seal on and peel back one corner of the press n seal to make a very small air hole. the eggs require much more oxygen at this point.

I suppose the question we're all forgetting to ask is: How large are the tubs you're using to incubate?

The rules will differ greatly if you're using a 5qt tub vs a 20qt tub.

agreed, or how many eggs are in the clutch and how big the eggs are.

I use mostly 6 qt and for the big clutches I use 12 qt. as stated in the vpi book on egg maintenance, one should never place eggs in the incubator and mark the hatch date and thats it. I also like to check on the condition of the eggs thru the 60 day incubation cycle which lets fresh air into the egg box and 2 weeks before they pip, the fetus is developing rapidly, generating internal heat, that causes the egg to become slightly warmer than it's surroundings. and that causes a directional osmosis that pulls water out of the shell. which we see in out egg boxes as condensation. which usually results in egg dimpling. this shows how fast the fetus is devolping and why I open a small air hole to let fresh oxygen in. giving credit for most of the information in this paragraph to V.P.I.'s book "pythons of the world, volume 2, by david and tracy barker, a must read.

I have 10 total eggs in 2 separate 6qt boxes. 8 in one because they were stuck together and the loose 2 in another. I'm using the substrateless method with vermeculite and the light grate. All the eggs currently candle great and I have seen movement in almost all of them. I'm incubating between 88-89.

I've always taken the press and seal off 7 days before they are due to hatch.
