Does breeding your snakes up their odds of contracting an RI due to lowered temps and such.

I heard this but was just wondering. Can someone explain this.

I don't drop temps and have had success with pairings and clutches. I don't feel that a temp drop is absolutely necessary; if they are ready, they will breed.

I have heard of new males getting overworked and coming down with RIs but this doesnt occur often as I have only heard this once or twice. I suppose you would have to really be studding the guy and spreading him too thin. It may have also been coincidence.

A lot of people dont think its necesarry to drop temps and they have had plenty of success without the temp change.

When September hits we allow our room temperature to drop to around 72 to 73 and keep hot spots at 93 to 93.
RI's are more prone to happen if you have low humidity and drop your temps too low.

yes, breeding is stressful and can cause a R.I. I drop my room temp to about 75 and hold it at that temp. i don't go up and down with the temps, I feel that this is also added stress. my hot spot goes to about 86. I still feed durning the breeding season, and the snakes still digest their food without any issues. I also have good results in getting good healthy eggs.
