Ridiculous that they make you dig that deep for a fire hazard warning, but I'm guessing you're referring to this line: "Always use the enclosed rubber feet to elevate your terrarium thus allowing the heat to escape. If unsure of bottom mounting, the side mounting of the ReptiThermŽ Heater is the preferred application." To me, they're basically covering their butts if you're too lazy to use the spacers that are provided with the UTH, and too cheap to use a thermostat to regulate the heat output.
