UTH's used on the side?

If you read the instructions for that one, it states that it can be and preferable to be mounted on the side. Not sure why but it is pretty clear in the instructions. I can see where the confusion would come from. Open the PDF file:

Ridiculous that they make you dig that deep for a fire hazard warning, but I'm guessing you're referring to this line: "Always use the enclosed rubber feet to elevate your terrarium thus allowing the heat to escape. If unsure of bottom mounting, the side mounting of the ReptiTherm® Heater is the preferred application." To me, they're basically covering their butts if you're too lazy to use the spacers that are provided with the UTH, and too cheap to use a thermostat to regulate the heat output.
