not that i have on or am planning on getting one i am just curious becuase i took my son to a pet store that is supposabley well known for having a different varieties of snakes and the had heat rocks in all of the cages..no its not a petsmart or any major pet store its a local family owned pet store...but are heat rocks bad no matter what or just bad without a thermostat for a snake? i personaly dont like this store..but my son likes feeding the turtles there...most of there snakes and lizards are always soaking in water when u go in there..sorry for the run on sentences and the mispellings....was just curious

They are known to be prone to shorting out, and are very difficult to control with a thermostat. They should never be used.

I've been wondering for a long time why they even make them. I don't know that there is any animal for which a hot rock is well suited. if there is, I wish someone could educate me.

Good for nothing. Best left collecting dust on a petstore shelf.

    Re: heat rocks

The fact the snakes are always soaking means something is off.

    Yall crack me up

Heat rocks have been known for burns, and should be left where they are. On the shelf.

Or better yet, in the dumpster.
