As long as (and i can't stress this enough) you get a thermostat to go with it.

but yes, it will be plenty of heat. your BP will move from the cool side to the warm side as it needs, to thermoregulate itself.

you get a 1 degree up/down variation, but it's good enough, and works well if you are on a budget =)

This is not true... Yes a UTH that is regulated by a thermostat will make a perfect hot spot in the cage... But they do not effect the air temperature in the cage at all. This means that if the air temperature gets below 75 degrees a second heat source will be needed. This isn't because the UTH doesn't have enough heating power, rather the way that they heat the cage.

So the way this works, is there is a suction cup that adheres itself to the pad, this gauges the temp and shuts off the pad accordingly?

It depends, an infrared heat lamp would be the best for a glass tank, but different types of cages would use different heat sources.

Really? it seems to work for me....my warm end stays at 89-90, and my cool end stays at 80-81. my air conditioning stays set at 70, and i don't use a secondary heat source, using a glass tank with a screen top
