    Balls vs Corns

So, I have recently obtained a corn snake and after working with him I've come to the conclusion I want to at some point start breeding morphs. I also want to at some point breed my balls. Here is my issue, I can only do one or the other at a time. I don't have the space for babies from both. With corns I can buy the morphs I want to work with for fairly cheap, at least compared to what ball morphs I want to work with. But balls are my first love with snakes and want to eventually work with the higher end stuff even if I have to work my way up. So, it's either gratify myself now with corn morphs and put balls on the back burner, or work with lower end morphs and work my way up and just leave the corns alone for the time being. Either way I'll be happy. Just having a tough time deciding. What would you do and why?

I have both and truthfully corn morphs are not easy to breed. Like my friend she had a amel and a ghost. Well if they were BP's and you bread them you would expect the babies to be some amel/ghost hybrid morph.... Well with corns it doesnt really work like that. amel bread to a ghost gets normals het for 3 different morphs. Where as if you were to breed BP's the mother and father morphs mix. Of course thats not always the case but trust me I think you should go with bp's it will be much more rewarding.

Corns are cheaper to get started, but that means you can't sell their babies for a lot either. But, balls have like 6? eggs, and corns usually have more than 10. I'd do corns just cause I like them more. Just my opinion.

Had bp's and corns and boa's. Truth be told, love my balls, and boa WAY better. Me personally, balls and boa's, over corns any day. Just IMO, do what ever you like best!

Im not really a fan of corns. I like balls and if youre worried about selling babies itd be easier to sell bps imo. Just seems like theres more of a market for them right now.

Someday i want to breed boas too. I really like albino boas
    1.0 normal bp

To my understanding, this is because most corn morphs are reccesive. If you pair them up right it's as easy as bp's.

Just throwing that out there cause it's awesome.

I have 2 clutches of corn eggs cooking right now, both had 8 eggs each. I did my research and no one in my area breeds corns. With in 2 hours in each direction there are 4-6 ball python breeders, including some very respectible breeders (ie Tim Mitchelle) So I decided to go with corns up here.

It's 100% up to what you like/prefer. Corns can have huge clutches, my big girl had 26 slugs. If all 3 had that size and all fertile I would have had 75+ hatchlings to care for.

Do some researh, find out who is in your area, competion wise. Remeber most corn snake morphs are recessive traits so you need matching genes to make morphs. My two clutches will likey be all normals(testing the one female), but will carry the genes I need to make my goal. So I'll be lucky if I cna get $50 each for the ones I don't hold back.

The thing with corns is that they lay alot more eggs than BP's. Also, corn morphs are mostly recessive, so it takes longer to get visual morphs with them, since you have have to raise up the hets and breed them back to each other. Take a look at this site:
    http://iansvivarium.com/morphs/species/elaphe_guttata/
It has most if not all morphs for corns, and there is also a genetic calculator in there somewhere.
Perks to corns, lower temps, you probably wont have to worry about humidity, unless you live somewhere that is extremely dry, and you probably wont have to ever buy feeders any bigger than mice. But from what ive heard the corn market isnt doing too well, so be prepared to hold on to some babies for a while.
