    Mouse eater

One of my BPs will only eat mice, and 1 large mouse a week is not enough. I have been offering her a second mouse after she consumes the first, which she readily eats. But I started wondering if it would be better to just offer her 1 mouse every 3 or 4 days instead 2 at 1 feeding, or does it really make any difference?

    thanks

I would do 2 mouse once a week but that would be my personal preference because if you feed every 3 days then your snake may not be hungry always and may refuse. Also once a week is better imo so that way you can have like 5 days a week to hold your bp if you want to.

Two at once is better than snacks throughout the week. Don't give up on a mouser--I had one female eat only mice until she layed her first clutch--then she went back on food eating rats, as though she'd never turned her nose up at one.

I never seen her kill that fast before... and she never took a mice again... so don't give up.. You never know. I You can fing pet store who breed they own rodents and have return policy You are a winner..
Just try once a while smuggle weaned rat ....

    Re: Mouse eater

As long as you are already feeding two animals at a time. Why not try making the second one a rat of roughly the same size? Try it a few times and see how she reacts. Just slip it right in behind the first one as she is getting to the end and she should just keep on going. If she does take them a couple times in a row, my guess is you may be able to just start with a rat after that, and perhaps one that's large enough that you won't need two.

In my opinion it really doesn't make a difference. I feed my mouser 2-3 mice at a time once a week. It's easier for me because the closest pet store is 25 miles from me and I refuse to breed my own mice. Do whatever works for you.

    Re: Mouse eater

I don't know if you are using f/t or live but I have 2 mousers in my collection and I have been scenting rats with the used mice bedding, I have, and it is starting to work. 1 started taking the scented ones and the other is hit and miss. But hopefully they both will be converted very soon. Noticed getting the rat warmed up good and scenting it seems to do the trick. Hope this helps and If your using live-sorry for the reply.

all my BP's are offered food every 4 days, right now they are all on mice, will be doing the rat switch fight real soon, order being made. 3 of the 6 will take 2 mice a offering, 1 will just keep eating what i throw in there. (god i love her, but 4 mice at a offering is just insane for a late 2011), the other 3 are hit or miss at this time. sometimes it is 1 a week to 1 every other week. switching to rats would be far more cheaper in the long run then feeding multiple mice each feeding.
