    Yet another RI question

I was taking the weights of each ball python I own tonight.

I noticed my little black pewter boy was making a wheezing sound.

I used a Q-tip (not the cottony tip part) to gently open his mouth.

I saw blood in his mouth. Some blood got on the side of the Q-tip.

Is this a symptom of R.I.? Or could it be a different problem?

Anyhow, I figure it's time to see a vet. I was looking for one here :http://www.anapsid.org/vets/califs.html

    Any advice?

Sounds more like mouth rot to me

a vet visit is in order. Make sure that they have experience with snakes.

Ah, I hadn't considered mouth rot.

So blood in the mouth is not a common symptom of RI?

Thanks. I'll be contacting a herp vet asap.

I'm guessing the bleeding is causing the wheezing atm.

Where in CA do you live?
And blood is not a sign of RI. Just mucous. Wheezing could be due to the blood or a possible shed.

Can you somehow take a picture of his mouth?

I wouldn't be able to take a photo and open his mouth simultaneously. I'm home alone right now. I'm in the High Desert (about an hour NE of Los Angeles county)

Why do you ask? Know a good vet in Cali?

I do know a good vet, but up in Norcal. I'm in the SF area. Try emailing/pm Heather Wong (Lady Ohh on this forum) of Heather's Herps. She's a well known CA breeder down in Socal. She can probably recommend some good herp vets.
