I actually don't like the accurites. they are no better accuracy than anything else on the market. I suggest buying three or up to five and checking them against each other to get the ones that are the best accuracy. (averages work generally speaking) I routinely see as much as 3º difference.
Digital hygrometers are so prone to error that I would rarely trust one at all. They can be off if dirty, dusty pinched cords or just poor assembly. They cannot be corrected and simply are not reliable at all. I recommend analogue hygrometers designed for cigar humidors. They in my experience (just under 30 units now) have tested out of the box within 5% RH (better than all the digitals I have checked the best being 9%RH and the worst was a whopping 30% that was an accurite BTW) The analogue ones I am suggesting are dust resistant and surprising water resistant as well (I found one in a water bowl and after almost a year it is still correct)
Get yourself a really good temp gun. Thats what i use and have never had a problem reading temps
The problem is cost really good IR guns are not cheap. It is hard sometimes to suggest a 100$ thermostat suggesting a good multiple reading averaging IR gun... Most are un-able or un-willing to spend what it takes to buy one. Even then they will never be as accurate as a good contact thermometer. I agree a IR gun is a useful tool to have a cheap one will do however. They simply do not replace a contact thermometer either. I use both and I did spend the cash on a really good contact thermometer and I own a good IR gun but I think we are in the minority. Very few have the ability or are OCD enough to need to buy good ones.
