Keep hatchling in 5.5G tank?

Hi all,
I'm getting a hatchling BP in the fall. He'll be 15-30 days old (I'm guessing closer to 30)

I have a 20L tank for him to grow into, but I was wondering if it would be okay to keep him in a 5.5G ~ex-aquarium~ for a little while?

It's so much easier to pick up and handle! Also... the 20L used to be a turtle terrarium (I got it for $20) So it needs some serious calcium build-up removal AND a plexiglass patch up on one side where it used to open with a plastic lid, in addition to a lid and clips.

I think you should ditch the glass altogether and go with a tub set up:

While tank can be and are used successfully used, they are far from ideal due to the amount of work it takes to maintain a correct environment in them.

Among the problems with tanks are correct heat and the worst to maintain is humidity.

You could indeed keep a hatchling in a 5 gallon tank, but be prepared to spend a lot of time fussing with it and tweaking it to get it right.

If you aren't getting your snake until the fall, now is the best time to set up the tank, if you choose to use one, so you have plenty of time to add the equipment you need and tweak the setup until you have it right.

I agree, set one up now so you can fiddle with it.... then decide you hate it and get a tub set up, all before the kiddo arrives!
