    Infrared 24/7

Hi, I just bought my first ball python 2 days ago and I was wondering, I have a regular basking bulb and a Infrared. Can I use the infrared bulb 24/7 since the snakes can't see it? Or do the need regular light sometimes? I do have it on a dimmer and it is the correct temperature in the enclosure.

Bps require no special lighting of any kind. Keep your hot side/cool side temps in check as well as your humidity and you will do just fine.

Ok thank you! I was just wondering because I was reading a lot about they need day and night cycles, and with just the infrared on 24/7 there's no noticable cycles for it. So your saying the cycles aren't needed? (I would be turning my bedroom light on and off a few times a day also) thanks again

As far as the day/night thing, I just keep my curtains open in the day and the lights off at night.

I would guess having the lights on 24/7 (non infrared) would through them off.

Correct, cycles aren't needed. My BPs just get the natural cycle of day and night in the room they are in.
