    Incubator question

I'm in the process of setting up my first incubator. I'm going real simple this year since ill I will have is 1 clutch (my first . My set up is simply a cooler with a piece of flexwatr on the bottom and water bottles on top, and the thermostat will be ordered next week. My question is do I need any sort of vent holes to allow a small amount of fresh air flow?

    Re: Incubator question

I just open my incubator and egg tubs once a week to give em a little frsh air. Not even sure you have to do this though.

The shells are porous and the snake inside needs to breath so cycling the air every few days to week is a good idea unless the egg chamber is huge.

Does this also mean the egg tub itself should have a couple of small holes?

Really depends on the person you ask some will say yes and some will say no.

I do not have any holes in my tubs. I use 6qt or 12qt sterlite tubs (depends on clutch size) from walmart. I check them once a week or so for some air exchange and that seems to work fine.

Quick question... is fan placement significant, or can I place it anywhere inside as long as I get some air moving around? Also, the fan is to blow air from inside, inside, right? I dont need to cut a hole for the fan to bring in air from outside?

No the fan is just to keep from having a "hot spot" in the incubator and to keep a nice balance of warm .
