    Surprised on the scale

Okay, so two of my ball pythons have been off feed for some months now (about 3 months or so), so I wanted to check how many grams they have lost in weight. My male ghost got off feeding at 850 grams, and my female spider at 1400 grams. I got them on the scale today which showed that my ghost weight 1100 grams and my spider weight about 1750 grams. How is it even possible? They haven't eaten anything in the past 3 months. I wasn't expecting them to put on weight from nothing, which, of course, are happy news.

I would check the zero of your scale. Or, the previous weights were off.

I agree, sounds like you didn't tare your scale before weighing.

I would think that your scale is off. I do not see any way a ball python could put on 250-350 grams with no food... I have had them gain a few grams and that must have been from drinking water...

That is why it is so insidious. He would EXPECT a troll... No one expects a Gnome.

Eiter way, I wish my girls would pick up a couple hundred grams when off feed.

I agree...Sounds like you either didn't tare the scale or they were weighed incorrectly before. Hopefully the current weights are accurate though!

P.s. where can I get me a feeding troll...or gnome...Makes no difference to me!

Hm, I must have done it wrong last time since I know I did it correctly today. Plastic tub on scale, turn scale on, place snake in tub. Yup ! I also placed a dumbbell on the scale later on to test if it showed the correct weight. Everything was in order. I am pretty positive no trolls or gnomes feed my snakes stealthy.
