    Odd feeding behavior

Today, I once again attempted to inspire my proven Lesser male, who I picked up maybe three weeks or a month ago, to feed although I actually wasn't expecting much of a response since he still seems to be in reproduction mode (he actually attempted to court my spider female when I was showing them to a friend) and he went opaque a few days ago but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try since I've had snakes take food in all sorts of situations in the past.
I tossed the rat in his tank and was actually rather surprised when I saw him track but he became deterred when the rat got up in his face so I took the rat out, stunned it, then gave it back to him. He once again showed a lot of interest in it and even took a strike at it which is when he began to act a bit odd. The only way I can really think to describe it is the tracking behavior but extremely erratic. He was going back to the stunned rat then to all the places the rat had previously been when I fist offered it to him and was continuing to do these really frantic movements. I should have tried to take a video but by the time I grabbed my camera, he was finished with whatever he was doing. :/

I just found it very bizarre because I’ve never seen this in any of my other balls before. Anyone have any thoughts?

He may be trying to sniff out your spider girl still if hes still in breeding mode.

Honestly, I wouldn't count on it since that actually happened about a two weeks ago (which I think would be sufficient time for him to cool off some) and there's not really anything that would have her scent on it in his tank or on the rat. Like I said, it was very sudden and bizarre and it kind of seemed to be caused by the stunned rat in his cage rather than anything else.

Ive had my pastel female for 2 months and shes still in breeding mood and hasnt eaten for me. Their fasts can last 9months+ so i wouldnt be worried about 2 weeks lol. Just keep an eye on his weight and as long as hes not losing a bunch of weight you got nothing to worry about

Well I'm actually more or less curious as to why he reacted the way he did to his food not so much that he isn't eating it. :v
I've seen my snakes do a lot of weird things but never act so frantically to their meals!

Youd be surprised. Ive had males "searching" for weeks after Ive stopped breeding them for the season. My pastel albino male will also let me know when he thinks the girls are ready because he will start searching before my first pairings of the year....
