I have always wondered how long mom "sticks around" after babies are all out when this takes place in the wild. Or if each baby just slithers away on their own and mom leaves once the last baby exits?? Hmmmm....

Regardless, your pictures were super interesting. Thank u for documenting this. Fascinating stuff! Really gets me thinking about all those mama's and their babes in Ghana.

Re: first of my 2012 clutches (maternal)

Were you able to feed her during the process? If so how many times did she feed during her incubation period? Also how was she fed? Did u offer her frozen thawed right over her coiled on her eggs?

She's in a 41qt tub in a rack. Belly heat via heat tape.

Some of my girls continue feeding on a weekly or bi-weekly basis while on eggs and others are more sporadic, but I've learned that they will definitely eat if they're hungry. I offer freshly killed sm/md rats and usually just dangle them where the mom will take notice. She typically just stretches out to investigate and if she's hungry, she'll take it. She never has to leave her eggs to consume it.

I haven't been taking pics throughout the process like I did the past few years and I sort of regret missing out on getting candling and feeding shots this time around, but I've just had a lot going on this year and haven't had the chance.

I did get some baby pics..

    All out.

    Yellowbelly sired the clutch.

    Pretty black back normal, too.

Unfortunately, I think nearly every baby (except that black back) is a male. lol
