I am deathly terrified of spiders. A wolf spider came running out at me one night and I launched onto the couch and squealed for help for 30 minutes. (It disn't go away...just sat there staring at me with its legs raised like a funnel web....nasty thing). Doesn't matter how big it is though, I start shaking and freak out. When I walk by tarantulas at the zoo or something, I cringe and gag and stay a good few feet away. Usually. Some days are better than others. That goes for scorpions as well.
I am terrified of heights, or more appropriately, falling. I love looking down from an airplane or other heights, I just don't enjoy being that high as I am afraid to fall.
The dark freaks me out...probably largely due to my father leaving me alone in the woods at night, standing in 6 inches of water, with nothing but a rifle while he went ahead to scout the way.
When at the beach swimming to the sandbar, I hate crossing over that dark deep area where you can see nothing but the darkness and know there must be SOMETHING down there. Silly, since I have made that swim hundreds of times, but it still nags at me when I get to that area and I always speed up there. Lol.
Burglary and house fires also freak me out. I check locks repeatedly before I can go to sleep and have to check all heating elements daily for anything strange.
I love horses, but chickens are a legitimate thing to be concerned about. I was pecked in the eye by a chicken once. Nasty little buggers. They don't scare me, but after growing up with them, I don't like them much.![]()
