Hi, I'm just curious and just want to hear from some SDR owners, how's the temperament of your snakes? Are they just like the larger Retics? Also, I've been looking around to find a good breeder for them, but I came out empty handed. (not kingsnake please) Not that I'm getting one now, just for future reference. Also what size of a tub would you need to keep one in? I also heard they could get up to 8 ft, which would be perfect, but can they get much larger? And how's the demand for them in the market and the morphs that they have right now? I know they're probably not varied as BP's, but, I just want to know some colorful morphs. Thanks!

Edit: Also, do many SDR breeders show up an NARBC or any other expo?

I have pure SD Retics. Same personality as a big snake but much smaller. Pure SD max out around 4-5' males and 5' females. The morphs are crosses typically and get much larger. I know of crossed SD getting 10-15'. That's a lot of snake to handle. Mine stay in 32qts right now but will probably end up in 41qts as adults. You aren't going to find a ton of them out there, at least in pure form. Lots of people have crosses and morphs if you're into that. That just isn't my thing for SD Retics.

I'm not getting any snakes anytime soon (maybe 5-6 years), but, I'vw worked with Retics before and I love them, just one thing, I wouldn't be able to handle such a large snake by myself, and that's why I asked about it.

@Simple: I'm not interested in morphs haha. And 4-5 ft? That's a lot shorter than I thought! Then I'm guessing are similar( size and eating habit) to BP's? If you're still breeding them in the near future I'll contact you!

Very smart, no one should. I don't care how macho and big someone is, if you get in a bad spot with a large animal like that it's bad news.

Excuse my language, but, I dislike all the stories about how some idiotic people get injured or even killed because they don't know how to handle their large constrictor, and then everyone blames it on the 'Man eating snake'. It's complete BS.

And that's one of the reasons why I want to get a SD Retic in the future. Much smaller, and easier to handle.
