    ^Agreed.

    One of the first snakes my friends got was a Carpet Python (Yes, I know different species, but, same scenario) and he to was hesitant when trying to hold his snake, so much so, he didn't actually handle it, let alone hold it for around the first seven months (used tongs to pick it up when cleaning out cage). That resulted into an unmanageable snake which hated human contact. After a while, he slowly started handling it more and more, to where it is now. Still a bit snippy, but, a heck of a lot better than seven years ago. (As for my friend, he's gotten five more snakes, all which he handles well).

    Moral of the story: Handle your snakes so they can be manageable and accustomed to being held!
