Herpetology-the study of reptiles and amphibians.

We are all herpetologists to an extent. Herping, is usually referred to when someone is outside in the field looking for reptiles/amphibians. Herps is simply short for reptiles/amphibians.

Herp is short for herpetoculture. The keeping of live reptiles or amphibians as pets. It is also an abbreviation used to describe reptiles and amphibians.

Herping is a term used to describe the active search for reptile or amphibian specimens. i.e. Field Herping

Herpers are us. People generally considered abnormal or even crazy by most people because they keep and even enjoy reptiles and/or amphibians.

    Herps- reptiles/amphibians
    herpers- people who keeps herps
    herpetology- the study of herps

NOTED: Starting off a conversation with "hey wanna see my herps?" is not a very good pickup line... especially if you dont pronounce herps very clearly lmao...

Prior to getting snakes, people considered me abnormal and crazy, just because.

    Snakes validate me.
