What route to go...

So, I am at the point where I am not sure what I want to do. I have a female spider (who is a mouser) and a male pastel up for sale trying to make a little cash. I am torn between either getting a bumble bee male that can breed this year to my pastel, my normal and maybe even my butter, or going for a higher end morph like a champagne.

I have thought alot about them both. I think if i went the champagne direction, I would have more opportunities in making some good morphs, especially cause alot of people dont do much with them, but that also makes them harder to sell.

With a bumble bee though, I could produce lower end morphs and sell them locally to turn a small prophet, where as a champagne I would probably be selling them online and need to be certified to ship (which eventually I want to be anyways).

I have also thought about a male enchi or getting into a clown project, but I am a little torn.

What do you guys think?

my personal opinion is to not spend the amount of money for a champ when you don't have that much experience in ball python breeding. If you do have the experience and the money then go for the champ if that's what you want. Ultimately what you want to breed is up to you and only you.

I second this.

But at the same time when I started out I bought all single gene juvey morphs and now that they are growing up I wish I had gone with doubles and triples and just had less quantity in snakes. But I played it safe.
I started with two breeder sized normals and a lesser male, I told myself if I can breed them with no problem then I would buy into higher end morphs.
Now I'm confident in my snake keeping ability and I will transition into that.

I say go with one of the single genes to play it safe but hey ultimately its your choice and you know what you want more than anyone!

I have alot of single genes right now. I have 14 snakes and I am comfortable in my snake care ability. I have a lesser a pastel 2 normals and a het albino and het pied that all should be around ready to go this season. Some are proven and some are on the verge. I started with a lot of single genes, but I feel like now is the time to capitalize on having some of my single morph females getting up to breeding size.

You need things to breed them to. What are you going to breed the het pied and het albino to? I suggest getting something that goes with what you have. Buy an albino or a pied.

doms and co-dom lower morphs might not fetch a whole lot of money but sell fairly easily. More people are buying single gene animals $400 and lower than $1000 and higher. Its up to you what you want to produce and what market you want to compete at. Personally I went with the route to produce animals that i like. yeah I do keep market value in mind but still want to produce specific animals that I really like. Invest in your hobby as a hobby. Go for what you like
