Excessive Urination on hunger strike
Barry is in a hunger strike going on about a month now..he has been urinating A LOT the last 3 days...both liquid and urates...we moved him into a PVC cage 9 days ago... The husbandry has been ok... Warm side between 88 -90 ... Cool side between 78-80... Humidity has been jumping around..between 50 to 80 , humid days in the higher side...
Is it normal for all this urination in a hunger strike?

Same answer still applies...
I think it's a good sign that he's drinking well and staying hydrated.

My normal male ball went through a phase where he peed A LOT when he was sporadically feeding too, it's nothing to worry about IMO as long as he's otherwise healthy.
Yours could be spilling his water out of his bowl too if you're not 100% sure it's urine (unless you have him on paper towels and it's clearly yellow).

Two times in one day is a horse of a different color.
I have to ask, are you sure it's pee, and not coming from his water bowl?

Yes, it's pee. Yellow with some white urates..and some solid stuff as well..brownish yellow...the newspaper substrate is soaked

I'd agree with Slim I have noticed that they go more when the RH is up. The error rate of hygrometers is so high that I almost always suspect them to be wrong and any kind of bend or damage to a cable almost always produces lower than correct readings.
Twice in one day is odd but the real question is how far apart? I have a big girl that goes almost every day and sometimes there is a gift in the morning from over night and one in the evening after supper, it feels like one day but it is likely over 24 hours apart.

You might think of a substrate switch to something absorbent like coco coir it holds liquid (my big girl soaks her paper and you can pour out an oz before pulling the wrecked paper away) and means you can scoop the wet substrate away. Mine does not like laying in her pee so I find her stuck on top of her water bowl and wedged in the corner. I switched her ages ago and she has not played acrobat since.

Re: Excessive Urination on hunger strike
I have a new 3yr old female who has been on a hunger strike for a month. She ate for me once when I first got her but now seems disgusted whenever a rat comes near her. Just the past few days she has been urinating A LOT! It smells awful like a port o potty. I've also noticed she has been visiting her water bowl more frequently. I'm thinking maybe she just figured out where her water was and was just really dehydrated until now. She seems healthy otherwise. has gone down from 1600 to about 1520 gms. I hope you get some good feedback on here because this is getting old really fast. She goes about 2x a day now and completely hoses her bin.
