Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)

Well Elena probably thinks that Casey won't steal from HER... but having a theif in your house, co-founding or running websites with someone who behaves the way Casey does... Elena had better watch her own reputation, lest it get tarnished just by association. Many people would look at someone who is co-in charge of a website, while Casey is bullying and trying to cover up her theft and see a person is who okay with all of it going on.

I'm not saying she's is okay with it, or that she is bad in any way.... but it's a big big risk to a good reputation to be associating with someone like that and making excuses for her. Saying "oh gee Casey is super upset and just didn't know what to do" when it's plain that she knew she stole the mouse, admitted it wasn't hers, refused over and over to give up the stolen goods, and deleted threads, banned people, etc doesn't make it look very much like she cares what her roommate and co-founder of websites does. Casey is not a child who might just need some lessons in how to do what's right. She's a grown woman, right? Getting anxious over getting busted in a theft is not a valid excuse for her behavior.

I just think that something isn't right here. The whole thing seems too cozy. Elena should be dumping Casey, why isn't that happening?
If I were co-admin of a site where my co-admin ruined what was supposed to be a happy adventure by taking a critter that was not hers, made such a remark on the taxidermy site, edited negative comments about the situation, I would actually try to see if I could start another site and I'd certainly see about having that person not live in my home with me.

Please lay off elena. Casey living with elena does not make things any easier for elena to help with any of this...it could only make it harder. There may be things going on, that have not been shared, complicating the matter. I trust Elena fully.

Lucille theres some stuff in that PM that stina didnt want casey to know. What if casey goes and kills all elena's animals now bc she's pissed? Unless you got stina's permission, i dont think its a good to post that for casey to read. For stina, elena, elena's bf, and allthe animals sake...

Casey could go kill all of Elena's animals at any point for any reason. She's been painted as so terrible... but the full story wasn't being told on anyone's part. Not saying Casey isn't still a thief but geez.

I'll be surprised if Stina ever gets her mouse...

Far too much water has gone under the bridge and far too many details about your actions have come to light for you to try and pull this routine.

You show no contrition for your actions. What you are is terribly sorry you got caught, and so widely exposed. I see no remorse for the deed.

I also see no remorse. I believe in forgiveness and redemption, but the apology has to be sincere, adequate, and--above all--not forced. In this case, I'm not certain those criteria are met. I'm cautious of seeming like I'm on a witch hunt (Hah!), but there are a dozen or so people on various forums and on facebook who have now come forward with tales of theft, lies, deception, and business-related shadiness from Casey from the last four years (yesterday's online bannings and deletion of comments seem minor compared to these things). I've met some of these folks in person, and I can't imagine they would all be misremembering what happened or who it involved.

That's why I can't help but conclude that her behavior represents a pattern. I hope I am proved wrong, and nobody carries around lingering resentments for the years of misdeeds they've all recently recounted, but I don't realistically think that will happen, and that makes me sad for Casey. I am VERY glad that Christina's animal has been removed from Casey, but from my vantage point it seems like the issue (from an ethical and business standpoint) has grown bigger than this one theft of this one particular animal and won't be brought to any kind of resolution due to the return of this one animal.

It's an unfortunate way to bring the issue to a close, because it's not really bringing anything to a close at all other than the return of this one animal which was stolen.

I want to thank everyone for contributing to this thread and all the others on the other forums. I've learned a lot seeing how people deal with each other, and why.

I agree with Lucille completely about posting the PM. In an all out fact war, why would someone withhold anything?

I've been reading every post since page one. If you believe Casey is the type to kill animals for spite, or out of anger, then why is she continuing to live with Elena? You can very easily give her the notice, and find a new roomie in no time at all.

Personally, if someone that lived with me even killed one of my FISH- that would be their last day in my house, no matter how badly we needed the money.

For anyone who feels the need to start posting Private Messages in the open fourm, for any reason, I urge you to tread very, very lightly. You may think you are doing someone a service, or are furthering the cause of justice, but PMs are Private for a reason.
