Aquariums are harder to heat (glass doesn't hold heat well) and because they're open at the top they don't hold humidity very well at all. The ONLY thing where aquariums have the advantage is in their visibility and that's only an advantage to the people who want to see the snake, not an advantage to the snake who only wants to stay hidden and secure.

Some arboreal snakes my be fine in an aquarium, but even then, aquariums generally aren't tall enough. Aquariums are designed for fish. If you want to keep snakes, get an enclosure that's designed for snakes.
