Yes The majority of the people here have been great I know a lot of you couldn't give two [shakes] about rodents, but you see past that to the heart of the issue, and it is much appreciated.

You might be surprised. A lot of us DO love our rodents, even if we're just breeding them as feeders. We're just typically shunned by the "pet" rodent folks.

    X2

And I really hope this works out for you stina, it is a ton of work to get mice from one coast to another, I can't imagine the work that got put into this shipment!

As snake keepers, I think its important to appreciate our feeders and treat them with respect. They may be 'just feeders' and are destined to die, but they are the reason our snakes live after all.

I enjoy breeding my rats. My breeder girls are very sweet and nice. I like to play with them in my spare time. They may not be pedigree fancy rats, but I still love them just as much as a fancy rat keeper would their own pets.

My ASFs aren't breeding age yet, but I adore them.

And my mice may be food/breeders, but I play with them all, give them treats, and love them

I know some of you care...I keep reptiles myself...including balls...notice I've been a member for years......I just rarely ever use the reptile forums anymore...lol I started in reptiles before I ever had rodents (besides hamsters as a kid...lol). I originally got mice to breed feeders (and b/c I liked them), but quickly came to really love them....and now I keep and breed both. Right now I have 2 balls, 3 atbs, an ornate flying snake, 2 russian tortoises, and a rankins dragon.

It is interesting being involved in both hobbies...a lot of reptile people shun rodent lovers and visa versa.

Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)

It seems as if breeding fancy mice is labor intensive, and going all out to import critters at great personal expense shows just how much thought and effort goes into breeding plans.
I guess I just wonder why Casey threw away her rep on taking a critter rather than making plans and maybe making arrangements to buy one or two of Stina's future baby mice. It would only have set back breeding plans, what, maybe 6 months or a year? (I'm guessing, I don't know)
It's just not worth it to take shortcuts and take what you want instead of work for it. Establishing a good rep takes years, and if you have a good rep, and work hard and are good to people, often they will help.
If you screw people in business, especially a business where everyone knows everyone, you end up screwing yourself. No one will forget this.

I read a little bit from the threads on other forums and I'm in total shock over how callous some people are being. Maybe it's JUST a mouse to them. And their snake is JUST a snake to someone else, but that doesn't mean someone can't have attachment to it, and the more important issue here, ownership of it. Whether it's a Ferrari, a notebook, a snake, or a mouse is not the issue. And just because "things like this happen all the time" doesn't mean the culprit should not be reprimanded and held responsible for their actions. Just because you've suffered from the dishonesty of others in the past and done nothing doesn't give you the right to shame someone who stands up for their rights and properties.

Even if it's a case with unfavorable legal standing, the ethics in this situation are plain and simple: The one knowingly in possession of someone else's property is at fault. Not the owner of that property, or the person who was deceived into giving it to the thief. Ethics are the reason for the BOI and "bad guy threads" because ethics have a very important role in business transactions of every type; a fact that unethical people enjoy neglecting. The role that ethics play in business is in fact often an entirely different one than strict legal interpretation can cover, and that is why it is necessary.

Okay good news. I talked to Casey tonight. She was really beating herself up. She has a lot of trouble dealing with stressful situations and with anxiety and she's horrible with conveying things in text.

She is very sorry for what happened and allowing it to continue on the thread without participating.

So I have the mouse, she gave her to me on her own will and she is very healthy and happy.

Thank you all for supporting Stina through this and I am grateful for a happy ending.

Thank you Casey for doing the right thing.

That is a cool looking mouse. I am glad it is on its way to the rightful owner.
