BP Activity

How long are your BP's normally active at night? I realize that everyone will be different. I am asking to get a kind of average.

For me, it really varies with each snake. Some I can tell where they are in their Eating-Digestion-Hunger cycle simply by watching their actions at night. Others I actually have to lift the hides every couple days just to make sure they're still in the tub.

Then I have the one I refer to as The Furniture Mover...About every three days this kid flips, moves, or knocks over everything in his tub except the water bowl, and as soon as he gets big enough to move it, that's probably going in the mix as well.

If it's a night where they feel like coming out of the hide, I would say they average about 1-3 hours of activity. But this will always vary by snake.

Mine stays in his hides alot. At night he usually comes halfway out of his hide for a few hours and sometimes roams around for short periods of time or moves his hide with him to different places in the enclosure

My BP usually comes out for about an hour or so to check things out and drink some water, then its back to his hides...

Mine was very active at night when she was smaller. I was concerned she was stressed, but she seemed fine, and now she is 600gm and is rarely active that I notice, but she is a stealthy "furniture mover." She adjusts the position of her hides and rotates which way the entrance hole faces according to her preferences.

Every once in a while she gets really antsy and spends all night thumping around in there. I don't know what the frick she is up to but is sometimes sounds like she is body slamming the side of the tub.

The way my snakes move their hides around in the night reminds me of when I was in college and used empty 30 rack boxes and duct tape to create a light-proof seal around my windows so I could sleep till 2.


My bee roams around quite a bit and the others are rarely seen unless I take their hide off. I'm still waiting to pop off a hide and see no snake.

I'll go with 1 hr of activity for my most active male and only if he hasn't eaten in a few days. He hangs his head out of his hide quite a bit waiting for food in S position, but I don't consider that being active.

Mine is active all night starts at 8 and is still up when I wake for school at about 5:12 its crazy last night he was hanging from the thermos and it came down with a crash and woke me up
