Day 22 -- One bad egg stuck to cluctch -- remove or let rot?
Quick question for all the experts --
It's day 22 and one of my eggs is bad and is stuck to the clutch so I'm having issues removing. The other eggs all have veins and this one is just stinking up the tub...
Do I need to somehow cut and remove it from the clutch or should we just leave it in there?
I've been reading a lot of posts about people leaving it in there since the other eggs naturally protect themselves, but the smell worries me...

I prefer to remove the bad eggs, however if you chose to do so be very careful not to rip the egg(s) it is attached to.
Some people also chose to let them be.

If you can't easily remove it, cover it with vermiculite and leave it. If the egg(s) touching it is/are healthy, they won't be affected. You just want to make sure that none of the ooze from it touches good ones.

If it can be easily removed without damaging the other eggs I would say go ahead and get it out of there

Thanks all --
The egg is really stuck to the other ones so we aren't able to remove it easily... Should we try to cut into it to get it out of there? I'm afraid of what will nastiness will come out of it and how hard it will be to clean up the ooze that pops out...
Should we just cover it completely with vermiculite like Shadera mentions?

If it was too hard to remove I would just leave it and just keep an eye that nothing spreads to the good eggs. It is unlikely but not impossible. Good luck!

I know nothing about eggs but maybe you could use a needle of some sort to pull out the ooze from the bad egg

You could just take a small pair of scissors, cut into the bad egg, and cut around the place it's stuck to the good one. Then you can remove the bulk of the 'ick' and just leave a tiny piece of shell attached to the good egg. A bit of blotting with a damp paper towel to clean it up, and it should just dry up a bit and become inert, there.
I would, rotting eggs in with a good clutch also make me nervous. If they dry up, that's one thing, but getting all slimy is gross.

+1 on this. Traditional wisdoms states that the rotting egg should not affect the good eggs because the good eggs immune system should protect it. However, in the real world I've lost good eggs before that were attached to rotten eggs. Now I always remove them the way that WingedWolfPsion describes.
