Two New Pick Ups from the Orlando Repticon...nice dinker female

Hey, I wasn't planning on buying any animals at the show, but I couldn't pass up on these two. The first is a little Panther Chameleon Male I got for $125.00 I have been wanting a Panther but they were like $300. he was a fat little healthy guy so he came home with me. his name is Picasso

The next was literally as the vendors were packing up. I was waiting on a couple bags of rat food and I saw two huge 45 gallon tubs full of African import babies. So I asked to see them. this little girl stood out because she was many shades lighter and had a very clean banded pattern with lots of orange on her sides. I thought if she did't have anything genetic going on, she would at least make a gorgeous female normal breeder. what do you think? dinker? Normal?

Oh and while I am at it. This is my new Biak x Aru Green Tree Python Neo. Not from the show but new to my family of reptiles. A friend who breeds them gave it to me last week. It was the last of a clutch of 22 and he wanted me to get into GTP's so I think this will do the trick. his/her name is Verdi

    Thanks for looking.

Nice pick ups! I saw the Panther Chams at the show, but somehow missed the big tubs full of Bush Babies. I'm sorry I didn't get to check those out.

Your new girl is clean and light. I think she'll be an awesome breeder when she gets up to size!

I agree, Panthers are awesome. I would like to start a project with them soon as i have a new place with enough room or maybe a screend in porch. That Tree python is sexy too.

Im not seeing much that screams dinker on the import baby but she will def be a good lookin breeder when shes up to size.

    Nice job Draco!

Thanks, I didn't see the bucket of imports out during the show either. They were at the table that had those HUGE Cane Toads.

As for the import girl, I don't really mind if she isn't a dinker. I want to run my lesser to her and see if I can get some cleaner looking lessers with her. They should both be ready at the same time.

I had a friend tell me that I should quarantine the import girl for one year and take her to a vet to be checked out. I have her quarantined and prevent-o-mite as a preventative. my friend is a very experienced keeper so I usually trust what he suggests, but a whole year? seams like a bit much. what do you all think? this is the first time that I have bought an imported snake

Nice pickups. Love the name choice for your gtp, that book was what got me into snakes as a child. Best book EVER!

Some folks feel that the bad nastiness that an imported snake can carry takes a long time to develop and manifest in some extreme cases. Some keepers even QT captive bred snakes for up to a year.

While I personally do not QT longer than 6 months unless I have reason to suspect something, you can never be too safe when it comes to your collection.

If you have a good place to QT this girl, a year can't hurt, and might help. It'll take you longer than that to get her up to breeding size.
