Experienced breeders I have a question for you

I am 14 and I plan to breed 2 years from now when I get the hang of the whole breeding stuff.Is it hard to maintain a ball python colony I just plan on breeding basic morphs and selling most of the hatchlings and keeping some of them for breeding again but is it hard to maintain everything under control do you guys think I should breed 2 years from now or just keep my ball pythons as pets then later in the future breed thanks for whoever replies to my question

Oh one more thing since I do plan to breed do you think I should start out with less expensive morphs and start their so that I know what I am getting into.

I would say to hold off for a few years. Get to know your snakes. Knowing your snakes normal behaviors will help identify problems down the road and also help you understabd what your snakes are going through in the breeding process.

As far as what kind of morphs to breed, i would say to go with what ever you have now. If you dont have a pair now then i would say start with normals. Unless your parents are buying these snakes (i wish mine did), i think it would be hard for a 14 yr old to come up with that money for high end morphs. Not knocking you, just think you should understand the basics and get some experience before dumping money into buying snakes. Trust me baby "normals" are just as exciting as morphs!

I think you could get to know your snakes in a couple of years. You will definitely need to get your parents on board. If they are cool with it I say go for it. There is a lot of information on here and on other sites that is really helpful. worldofballpythons.com has it all really. go explore that site and do your research and ask questions here and in a couple of years you should be ready to give it a go. Realistically the more affordable snakes are more suitable for your age. I guess some suggestions would be to pick up a pastel male and a spider female and a pinstripe female. Bumblebees and lemonblasts are pretty cool!
But you also must consider the cost of housing, feeding, and other expenses like if you are breeding you will need to budget for all the materials you will need to make an incubator. If you can get all your ducks in a row and support from your parents then by all means breed a couple of girls! Good luck!
