I know people use them every day, but I'm a worrier and I just feel like I would be constantly on edge about it. Not that it's any more dangerous by itself than using heat lamps and such, I guess it's because I feel like something could go wrong with it and it might be hard to detect.

I don't know, is there any sort of fire suppression system or anything like that that would give me peace of mind? If it wasn't for this I'd probably already have more BPs...
Racks are far safer than heat pads and heat lamps. Just a simple thing like a heat lamp falling on the carpet could be a disaster. Plus, PVC is fire retardent.

As long as you use a GOOD thermostat and check your connections every month, you will be more than fine! Nothing to worry about.
