    so, what's the deal here? (haven't heard of this before) as I haven't bred any snakes yet. any info would be great, thanks.

    Sometimes when we cut eggs open or they pip on their own or whatever other reason you can imagine where the babies are still inside the eggs and haven't emerged on their own where they are exposed to the outside world for longer than normal period of time. Being that a sealed egg protects them from bacteria and keeps fluids locked in, an open egg can collect bacteria and/or dry out. We use stuff like saline or distilled water to flush out bacteria and replenish the fluids lost due to drying out. Hope that made sense.
