In General Why Are Baby Females Worth More?
I understand adult female being worth more than an adult male, however, as babies, males are going to be more useful sooner.
For example, you have an option of getting a baby pastel male or female. I can breed the male to an adult female within 6 months or even less. I have to wait 2-3 years to start breeding a female.
Just curious.

It's all about supply and demand. Most breeders are only going to want one male for every 4 or 5 females. With a 50:50 ratio, there's going to be a much bigger supply of males for the lower demand.
The time factor comes into play with high priced morphs where people want to get into the market earlier. That's when you see males listed for more.

I agree with this.
I see higher end combos and morph males for greater or equal value to the female counterpart. Lower end stuff, not so much.

Females are more likely to be held back by both professional and hobby breeders, meaning there are generally less of them available. Low supply and high demand raises the price.
That, and because we've always done it that way
