Not alarmed but curious

Maybe my ball python is just having his yearly fasting days, but it has been going on for awhile. Not only is he not eating, but he is always out of his hides, roaming around the place, like he is searching for food. I checked to see if he did his business, but everything is immaculate. he has fresh water and his temperatures are 82(cold side) and 95(hot side) gradient. Here is a picture just so you know what the little sucker does everyday.



I use a hand towel to keep his humidity up around 50%. The hides he uses are from Reptilebasics and they're medium sized. He has been using them for 2 1/2 years already. He has gotten bigger since then and I don't think he has out grew them yet since snakes like small tight-fitting areas. Ill let you guys decide. Thanks.

Might be a little warm 95 is on the upper range of temps you could try dropping the temps a little. My pied girl had the same issue dropped temps 2 degrees and she seems to like it there better

I think it is time for a larger tank setup.
My normal female behaves just like yours (mostly at night) , but she is in a 100 gallon tank.

Are you sure it is a male? I know around here, the weather was a bit weird this winter, and most of the locals with breeding age/size reptiles had them cycle later than normal. My personal ball pythons all cycled months later than they usually do, most likely because it stayed fairly warm up until January.

In your case, the snake seems to have good weight, and the constant searching...sounds like a male looking for a lady friend. There's not much you can do except continue to wait him out. You could try lowering temps a few degrees to see if that affects his behavior at all. He may be getting too warm in his warm side hide, but doesn't quite feel comfortable in the cold side, either, so he is "pacing" back and forth to find somewhere comfy to hang out.

This was my thought too. My albino pastel tells me when breeding season is every year....I wake up and hes pacing the top of his tub trying to get out and find a girl.
