    Room humidifier issues

I have been having a problem with my humidifier. It keeps getting gunked up, and making my snake room smell like a pond. I know it is unhealthy for the snakes. What kind of humidifier will prevent this? Does anyone have something that works well for them?

Is it a cool mist type? They need constant cleaning to not smell funky (daily) the warm mist type the mist has been boiled so it is quite clean. They build deposits on the heating element however I clean mine once a week. (CLR)

Vinegar is a great cleaner. I have calcium issues but on the cool mist it should work super well.
