Reptipro 6000

Anybody own one of these? I've looked at a few chicken sites (I know, I know) and it seems to be both loved and hated. I need an incubator that can maintain set temps regardless of ambient temps (within reason). That means it has to heat or cool depending on conditions.
This one seems to offer a lot, for a little. I'm kind of in a situation where I need to make a purchase rather quickly as I was able to buy a couple gravid monitors. I need to keep 84-86 temps and with summer coming, the temps around here will quickly be in the 100's.
Any other suggestions (other than DIY - I'll experiment later, but right now I want to be sure)?? I could really use some good suggestions.

What I can tell you about this incubator is that it is VERY small and a 6 quarts tub will not fit in it so keep that in mind, very limited space for the price.

Build your own you can build something at a similar price yet much bigger which will allow you to grow into it.

Remember the most important piece of equipment/bigger expense is the thermostat, the rest is very affordable and free in some cases (old fridge for example)

Ambient temps are a factor in all incubation, even our large true coolers are effected by the ambient temps they sits in.
You're probably going to have to provide a fairly stable room temperature no matter what incubator you use, unless you build a walk in closet into an inc?

Yeah, I was stating the max changes over the course of a year, which is not really reality in most cases. I guess if you put eggs in during September (one of the hottest months with lots of days over 100) and they were in for 3 months, we'd be looking at December (which can easily have snow and 30f temps). But the house temps probably vary by more like 50 on the low side and 85 on the high and that wouldn't occur on the same day.

I'm going to put the 6000 into a closet which is in a room most central to the house. That should provide some insulation from ambient temp fluctuations (to a degree).

Ordered it today, customer service said it will ship tomorrow with a five day ship time.

Hopefully, the ackies don't drop before that....

We bought a ReptiPro 6000 and set it up with ball python eggs about a month ago. We had no problems up until now, but this morning we came in to check the eggs and the temperature had skyrocketed from 90 degrees to 150 degrees sometime between 4am and 10am this morning. The eggs were shriveled up and measured 120 degrees when check with an IR thermometer. The hygrometer we placed inside with the eggs got fried as well. Up until today, temperature and humidity were fine. According to the person I talked to when I called ReptiPro, condensation can form between the glass in the door and thereby reach the electronics and short out the system. The incubator is supposed to be insulated to prevent this from happening, but ours apparently wasn’t and we lost about $3000 in eggs. ReptiPro offered to replace the unit and include a hygrometer at no charge.

I'd ask for your money back, not a replacement. That thing could have burned your house down.

I wish I had heard about it beforehand. The main reason I posted is because we couldn't find any quality reviews on the ReptiPro 6000, just from people who had either just ordered one and was waiting for it to arrive or had just received theirs and only had it running for a week or two. We were originally thinking to build an incubator ourselves, but this one seemed like such a time-saving convenience. Too late now.

We did in fact ask to return it and get our money back. Yesterday they told us they would call us back today after thinking it over, but the call has failed to come. After reading ReptiPro's responses on some of the other forums where I posted my review, I doubt they will. It wouldn't bring Butterscotch's eggs back anyway.
